There is a lot we do not know about John Drinkard, but we know that he died 17 Mar 1817 in Abbeville District, South Carolina leaving his wife Lucy and these children:
diamond William B., born abt 1790 in SC
diamond John Smith, born abt 1808 in SC

John Drinkard served as a private during the Revolutionary War in a Company commanded by Capt. Jacob Moon of Amelia County, Virginia. He fought at Guilford Court House in North Carolina. His wife, Lucy, gave this information when she filed for pension benefits in Chambers County, Alabama in 1850.

William B. Drinkard, was born about 1790 in South Carolina, we do not know his wife's name but have these children for them:
diamond George S. m. 1.Elizabeth Crawford; 2.Margaret Willson
diamond William (killed in the War with Mexico)
diamond Wiley A. (went to Georgia)
diamond Catherine m. William Southerland
diamond Francis (went to Alabama and then to Arkansas?)

diamond Eliza m. Isham Mouchett

John Smith Drinkard, was born about 1808 in South Carolina and died about 1865 in Chambers County, Alabama. He married Martha Ann Miller, the daughter of William and Argant Miller, 23 August 1840 in Chambers County. John "Smith" Drinkard was found on the 1830 census in Newton County, Georgia and on the 1840 census in Heard County, Georgia. Their children are

diamond Augustus H., born 31 May 1841 (twin to Augusta)

diamond John Smith, Jr., maried Emeline Johnson

Records indicate that in 1865-1866 an epidemic of some kind wiped out all of the John "Smith" Drinkard family left in Chamber County, Alabama except Emory Protho who was left an orphan and raised by relatives. Martha Ann Miller Drinkard left a will in Chambers County, Alabama that states that two of her sons - John Smith, Jr., and Toliver V. had gone to Texas. John Smith, Jr. having married Emeline Johnson before they left.

Augusta Ann Drinkard, was born 31 May 1841 in Chambers County Alabama and died 21 January 1865 and is buried in Randolph County, Alabama. She married Martin Van Buren Hudson, the son of Cicero and Matilda Beadles Hudson, 3 Nov 1859 in Chambers County. Their children are:

diamond Martin Van Buren, b. 11 Mar 1862
diamond Martha Matilda, b. 29 Jul 1864
