Best
of the Rest
- The Musicians |
And now for something
completely different
Here is a page
dedicated to some musical geniuses. I have had to leave quite a few wonderful
musicians and singers out, people like The Ramones, David Bowie, Tina
Turner, Johnny Cash... the list goes on... otherwise the page would become too
big to fit on my allocated part of the web!... but here's a
few of my main favourite musical talents who have given us so much great music over the
years. This page is dedicated to the musicians. Please see also my page
for The Alice Cooper Group.

From the very beginning, The Quireboys (known in the States as The London
Quireboys) have been a rock 'n' roll band who have stayed true to the
roots of rock and roll. They play honest, down to earth music that
comprises some blues, r & b, rock etc, and they play it very well...
whether it's in a club, pub or huge arena, as they proved in the
Birmingham NEC last November 2002, when they played the Monsters of Rock
Festival with Alice Cooper, Thunder and Dogs D'Amour. Led by front-man Spike
Gray,
whose voice is suitably rough, husky, and very sexy, the Quireboys remain an essential
part of the rock scene, reminding us all of what rock music should be
about.

|
Over the years the line-up has changed somewhat; gone now are Guy Bailey,
Chris Johnstone and Rudy Richman, but thankfully Geordie Spike, guitarist Guy 'Griff' Griffin,
and the gorgeous bassist Nigel Mogg remain as the heart of The Quireboys,
together with newcomers Luke Bossendorfer on guitar, and Martin Henderson
on drums and percussion. Long may they continue to rock.
Incidentally Nigel is also a great photographer - see the link below to visit
his site and see some of his impressive work. A special thanks also to
Nigel for signing my guestbook. I was mega chuffed about that!

Well Oiled - new CD for 2004
|
Nigel Mogg used to have a
photography
site, but unfortunately the link to it is no longer working. Shame, there
were some really good photos there.
Quireboys.com
There was an official Quireboys website at "www.Quireboys.com".
Unfortunately this also seems to be unavailable. Anyone know where it's
gone?
The Quireboys' new CD "Well
Oiled" is now available to buy in stores or online. I have
it playing on my PC as I type this - great stuff as usual. The Quireboys
never fail to come up trumps with their music.
There should be a new Quireboys DVD out at some time. I
have been waiting for this for quite a while now. I will
post news on this when it's available!

Also, check out Spike's new official
website at:-
www.spike-online.com

Where you'll find details of the
latest tour dates and much more.

.Steven Tyler
|
|
In my humble opinion Steven Tyler, lead singer with
Aerosmith and dad to the actress Liv Tyler, is the sexiest guy in the
music industry (with the possible exception of The Quireboys' Nigel Mogg
and Spike!) - not only that, but he is also a great singer and song writer to boot.
Pretty damned good for
someone who's over 50! This guy is definitely not your average 50 something
dad!
If
you've never heard an Aerosmith album you have missed out - go get one
immediately, I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Steven Tyler's
partnership with Joe Perry in Aerosmith has produced a wonderful array of
music that has influenced many of our greatest bands today.

Slash aka Saul Hudson
|
|
Whenever you hear Slash playing guitar, either in his Guns
'n' Roses days, in Slash's Snakepit, as a guest or jamming on other
people's albums or gigs, or in his new band Velvet Revolver formed with
old pal Duff McKagan, there is no mistaking his distinctive style. Slash
is known as a 'musician's guitarist', one who has earned the respect and
admiration of other musicians; of those who know a great guitarist when
they hear one.
With his rock star looks, attitude and lifestyle, he is one
of a kind. Guns 'n' Roses may have been revamped, but to me it's like
having a car with no engine in it! G n' R will never be the same
without Slash, no matter how great a front man Axl may be. Best of luck to
Slash and the boys with Velvet Revolver.

Keith Richards
Keith Richards is the rhythm guitarist
and driving force
behind the Rolling Stones, and is co-song writer with Mick Jagger. Due to
his unique style of guitar playing he has been known as 'Keef Riff-Hard'.
He is a legend in the music industry and indeed outside it too; as well
known for his scrapes with the law as for his musical genius. If and when
Keith retires, the musical world will be a poorer place, they don't make '
em like this any more. Keith Richards is a legend - and that's official! |
