Bowling Etiquette In addition to the official C5PBA rules governing 5 pin bowling, there are a number of unwritten rules when bowling associated with etiquette and displaying good sportsmanship. These include: Stepping Off the Lane - After picking up a ball off of the rack, before throwing your first shot, it is polite to step off of the lane. Lane Courtesy - When up on the lane, if the person to the next to you, on either side is set up and ready to bowl, you should remain off of your lane until they have thrown their ball. Throwing the ball at the same time as someone beside you is very distracting for most bowlers. The Right-Side Rule - When two bowlers, side-by-side, have stepped off of the lane and are ready to bowl at the same time, the person on the right is one that should go first. However, the bowler on the right has the option of asking the person on the left to throw first. |
