Tammy wrote this to me: "I had to write this after seeing the photo of you holding Christopher and Rachel. It just started coming right after I left his page. So for Christopher's anniversary...this is for you and him."
Soldier In His Mother's Arms
Open arms of Mother
wrapped around her children tight
She sings to them
She laughs with them
She kisses them goodnight
She holds the hands
of her soldier son
whose life would soon change
He'd soon get to run.
With the heart they'd been praying for
Tucked into his chest
He need only recover,
needed only to rest.
But alas...things did not
turn out to be right.
Poor Christopher had
much too hard of a fight.
It just isn't fair...
that the one very heart
Would bring the tragic end
that would keep you apart.
You once held your Christopher
wrapped in your arms so tight
But on this earth he could not stay
Our Legobeaver Angel had sadly taken flight.
Now the arms that once held
Your soldier son
Hold his sister and a tiny boy
Whose new life has begun.
I know that no one here
on this earth or above
Could fill the place of Christopher
nor take his Mother's love.
The open arms for Christopher
shall always remain open wide.
For your fighting little warrior son,
Who will always be at your side.
That place in your arms
now fills up your heart
For no distance or time
keep Mother and Son apart.
Open arms of Mother
wrapped around her children tight
She sings to them
She laughs with them
She kisses them goodnight.
