The Other Shul is a forum in which all Jews can discuss relevant Jewish issues of mutual importance in a convenient, non-threatening environment. Despite the sensitive issues, we assume that everybody will use a pleasant tone, stress proper vocabulary, and show a positive attitude.

This display of Jewish unity does not necessarily mean that all of us agree with each other. To the contrary - some of us represent The Other Shul. This is acceptable - to a certain degree.

We do have our detractors from without. We certainly don't need additional detractors from within.

We've even had some antisemitic attitudes towards some of our discussion groups - and those subscribers were removed. Our acceptance of conflicting opinions does have limits.

Acceptable conflicting statements may be presented in the proper manner. Those who engage in ad hominem arguments or discussions, or who disrupt our cooperative atmosphere have excluded themselves from the group.

There is another point that should be obvious. This is a public discussion group. We therefore expect all communications among subscribers to take place on line and we hope everybody will contribute in a positive manner to our group spirit. Clearly, we wouldn't have much of a discussion group if people corresponded privately.

Our subscribers have joined The Other Shul in order to be in touch with the entire group as a whole. Do not harass them with your own unwanted, off-line messages.
