Who is a Jew? Who can become a Jew?

That title represents a perennial debate in the Jewish world.

As a result, discussions in The Other Shul sometimes relate to those who become Jews by choice rather than by genes.

Let it be clear: Halachic converts to Judaism are welcome as equals, and their status on our groups is identical to that of subscribers who can trace their lineage to Moses. This is not merely The Other Shul policy. This is traditional Jewish policy. There is no room for deviation in this issue.

The Other Shul is also open to those who are not yet Jews but who are considering the possibility of converting to Judaism. These people may also opt to join our forum for those who are new to Judaism or who are considering conversion to Judaism - Jewish Beginnings.
