September 11, 2001 Remembered
Who could believe that a year would pass so quickly. I am not sure myself if I have even truly begun the grieving process.

On September 11, 2002, I will be downtown at the Alamo to hear the church bells ring at 9:29am CST, the moment the second tower collapsed in New York. At ten there will be a somber ceremony and wreath laying at the Alamo, with a riderless horse with firemen's boots. At noon I will go to a prayer and memorial observance and St. Mark's Episcopal Church. Later in the afternoon, I plan on attending a fuction at the San Antonio Museum of Art until it is time to leave to be at the candlelight procession at 9pm. On Monday, September 16, 2002, a Little Gem Southern Magnolia will be planted in the yard as a living memorial for Mark and the others who died on September 11, 2001. There will be a monument placed at the base of the tree which will read: "Only in winter can you tell which trees are truly green. Only when the winds of adversity blow can you tell whether an individual or a country has steadfastness." ---- John F. Kennedy |
