I was born on March 13, 1970, in Sinton, Texas (outside of Corpus Christi) to Bill & Barbara Moore. My father is a pharmacist and businessman and my mother, well that's what she was. I have two siblings, my sister, Elizabeth, is ten years older and my brother, Robert, is seven years older. I had two wonderful grandmothers that lived in Sinton, my mother's mother, Granny, with whom I was extremely close and spent every Friday night with until she died from lung cancer January 3, 1987. My dad's mother, Mema, she and I spent daytimes together and spent a lot of time at the beach. She died in April, 1991. I went to school for all thirteen years in Sinton and graduated from Sinton High School in 1988. I left for college three days later and went to Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas, but that was too far from home so I transferred to Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. I was a Theater Major and was studying pre-professional acting. I got really burnt out and finally dropped out and moved home and worked for Daddy. I did go back to college a few times, but never was able to get my degree, I really hated having to study and unknown to me I was suffering from manic depression. In 1991 I moved to Austin. Right after I moved there I found out I was HIV+. After dealing with that some I luckily found my career and love of life, the hotel business. I started at the bottom and quickly moved up in the ranks. In the spring of 1993, my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer. She fought a valiant fight but finally succumbed on September 11, 1995. I was right there at her side with Daddy and her twin sister, my Aunt Brownie. The morning after she died I was called and accepted a new job in Austin. I began a couple of weeks later. Nine months later I flew home from Phoenix. I was about to be promoted to a higher position, but when I got home I completely broke down. I went into the hospital and was diagnosed with manic depression (Bi-Polar I Disorder). That, combined with the HIV ended of my working career. On March 9, 1997, Daddy married Linda Barber. She has truly been a Godsend. Also in March, 1997, I was diagnosed with AIDS. I finally moved home in August, 1997 again. I worked when I could for Daddy but was not doing well and on February 9, 1998, I took an overdose of pills. I barely survived the suicide attempt. I was in a coma for four days and fortunately I did make it through. Four weeks later Daddy had to have open heart surgery and had five bipasses. After I nursed him through the after effects of his surgery I moved into Corpus. I stayed in Corpus for a couple of years, trying different things but ultimately never getting much done. My bestfriend, Jeni, helped me beyond words. I moved to San Antonio in September of 1999. This was the beginning of a better, healthier life and the most stable mentally that I have ever been. In May, 2001, I had another hospital stay, but this time it was just to add Lithium to my regime. There are pages to read more on Bi-Polar. In May, 2001, I moved back to Corpus Christi to be closer to my family and my best friend and of course, the water. In January of 2002 I moved back to San Antonio, back to the healthier and more stable life that I had left behind. In June of 2002 I began a slow decrease of Depakote. It is one of the medications that I take for my Bi-Polar. It is great to get to a place where not as much medication is needed. Eventually my psychiatrist hopes to take me off of it completely. I hope you enjoy this website half as much as I have enjoyed creating it. I will be continually updating it so I hope you come back. I will also email you when it has been updated if you request it. Thanks and have a great time. Brian |
