Palmer – Biography
Palmer; for the 2002 Saskatchewan Star Search winners, Showcasing at the 2003 Western Canadian Music awards is another just one of many milestones in this bands carrier. This Brother/ sister group, focused years ago and embraced the inevitable and have seen that there’s no stronger bond between musicians then family. It just feels right, and the music feels even stronger. The band has been cutting through the Western Canada’s club scene and is carving out their own sound with their first Full Length CD “Fall In June”. This debut CD was just released to enormous amounts of radio support, with they’re 2 singles ‘If only you’ and ‘life had caught up’, being spun 4 times daily in certain areas of the country. With records being sold all over the world, in particular to the UK and Asia, and a new album already being recorded in Vancouver, expect exciting things to happen for this band. There’s a Universal sound to their music that catches you and won’t let go. From blues to roots rock, to jazz, to funk and pop, their musical roots run deep.
Josh Palmer ( 19), lead guitar and vocals. Playing professionally since he was 14, Josh showed a breathe taking poise and maturity far beyond his years, and is continuing to grow into a complete artist and songwriter. He’s learned from some of the best, taking everything in. His influences ranging from Stevie Ray Vaughan, Hendrix, BB king, Albert King, Colin James, Zeppelin, Stevie Wonder and Doyle Bramhall II, have deeply been rooted in his style of playing and singing. He has been as a guest artist on stage many times with Big Dave Mclean, David Gogo, Jordan Cook Band, The Franky Lee Band, The Paul Tobin Band, The Russel Jackson band, Nigel Mack and the Blues Attack, Lou Pride, Texas Flood and Suzzie Vinnick. Josh has hosted many jams since he was in his early teens, including Buds on Broadways, and has played with many talented musicians all over Saskatchewan.
Tanya Palmer ( 17), Bass and vocals. Taking to the bass at an early age, her playing and influences grew just as quickly as she was becoming a teen and has grown into a solid funky bassist and aspiring songwriter. Her first band Bluesway Express, gave her many opportunities like opening for the 2000 world junior volleyball championship at SaskPlace. Moving on she became the bassist for Bridge city blues band another very young blues rock original band, ( later known as T Vaughan ). That gave her the chance to travel all over Saskatchewan and Alberta opening for such acts as the Mockin’ Shadows ( the Shadows, now on tour with BB king ) . She sites her influences as Stevie Wonder, Parliament, Marvin Gaye, Wide mouth mason, Lisa Lobe.
Dave Berry, ( 20) drums, and vocals. Long time friend of the family. He’s one great multi instrumentalist, playing drums and bass just as well. Add guitarist and budding songwriter to that list, the man has talent running through his veins. He ‘cut his chops’ playing drums and bass for bands out of Calgary like the famed Jimmy Pain and the House of Pain. And in 2001 became the new bassist for the Jordan Cook Band. He’s one amazing musician.
The Future continues to be a bright one for such a young exciting band. Opening for such legendary acts as Chiliwack, and playing to packed clubs like Buds on Broadway, Lydia’s as the Feature act for the Ness Creek open stage and the Centenial Auditorium as the Opening act for the Cameco 2001 Dare to Dance, the Saskatchewan jazz festival, the Fringe festival and playing Saskatchewan Place, finishing First in the 2002 Saskatchewan Star Search showcase. The constant touring has paid off, already seeing 1 hour full length radio specials on the band, constant interviews to push their debut record and live performances as well. The response has been overwhelming. The CD’s been described as Artistic, heart wrenching rock and roll deeply rooted in the soul of the blues. Full of musicality and a powerful force to heard, felt and experienced, live and on CD.
“ Absolutely fanatastic!!! Great originals and awesome covers!!”
