Blood

Stand right there,
let the Blood rain down on you.
It strikes your head
scraping away the grease from your hair
and the sludge from your mind.
Runs into your ears and eyes
washing away the impurites
of the world and the well-meaning.
Sticks in your eyelashes;
you can't even see except
through the Blood.
The coppery warmth--
inhale all the way to the base of your lungs.
It may run into your mouth.
Taste it. Swallow it. Remember.
Bow your head.
Snakes down your neck,
reaching like hands,
stripping away your sin,
your shame, guilt, pain.
Pours over you, every part,
inside and out.
Be spiritually naked, and clean.
Stand in the puddle of blood.
Soak it up, so that your feet
may walk in the right direction
and leave toeprints everywhere.
