Mirror

Looking at you is like
staring into a time-warped mirror,
a short rewind on my own
audio visual tape.
You're quicksand,
sucking things dry with your very essence,
trying too hard.
When someone gives you importance,
it balloons your head
because you don't know your own intrinsic value.
So very human.
Crushed by your submission,
stamped flat by all,
you search for the one who will use you
more harshly than anyone.
You have learned screaming jealousy
that eats a hole in your personhood.
And here am I,
wearing some mighty big boots
to smash your head
and kill you along with your fears
and unconscious imitation,
to break the glass.

Not to be taken literally. No wonder I couldn't handle the guy; I was just like him.
