Somewhere on the Ladder Somewhere on the ladder near the bottom. The last rung down disappears into molten rock. Stay away, grab hold, and pull skyward. Somewhere on the ladder, there's a vast expanse of middle. Let the open air and the clouds speak as they drift. Pay attention; they are quiet. Batten down in the occasional squall and cling on tight. In the electrical storm, discard your metal. When sunlight reappears, sing; display your gift as thanks & continue climbing. Somewhere in relation to the ladder; slipped, lost hold, (are) upside down or too numb to physically/spiritually to feel it. Someone climbing near will criss-cross to stay your hands and help regain balance. If you have the grace to allow it, then by all means. Or be ungraceful, just let it be so. Somewhere on the ladder: no one ever sees the top coming, so don't take your last hand-hold for granted. PamEhli/1999 |
