Welcome to Munchy's Page Part time aeronautical engineer and master model builder, full time cutie pie !! |
This is Muchy's first solo RC project. he is building a Dynaflite Bird Of Time sailplane. When he received his model in the mail he told me he wanted to make a few slight changes to the design. Now knowing that Monkey's don't think small, he decided to increase the wing span from 118" to 150", add flaps, airlerons, spoilers and a .40 OS Max engine. The U2 doesn't have anything on this balsa bird. The only thing Munchy likes more than modifying model designs is eating banana's while watching Planet of the Apes. |
Afterwards, he started reading all the pictures in the instruction book. Hey, he's only a one year old monkey. He knows grown men who, after several drinks, can't read the words either. |
Here he is working on his wing center section. Notice he's making sure not to get any glue on himself. No one likes to cuddle a sticky monkey. |
Starting work on the flaps. He doesnt know why they are called flaps, after all they don't flap. he thinks they should be called droops. Thats monkey humor for you. |
He just received his new kit and, being the perfectionist he is, had to inspect each piece. Besides, He just loves the smell of balsa in the morning. |
Munchy's making a couple more measurments. this is the wing at 150". These secitons have yet to be connected together. The wing will break down into 3 sections when completed. Still much work to be completed before this wing catches any wind. |
here he is using his Dremel to shape the trailing edges. You'll notice that he is wearing his protective eyewear. Such a safe little monkey. This section of wing is one of the origional sections. Each section of the wing, ribs, spar and leading/trailing edges, are being completely reinforced with plywood. The weight gain is minimal compared to the added strength. |
Watch out Kelly Johnson... Here comes |

The Monk Works |
Even monkey's need some time off and since Munch has worked so hard He decided to spend a little quiet time relaxing on Sanibel Island while he worked on his tan.. |
