Surnames:

Following are the main surnames I’m researching.  I have considerable information on some lines and very little on others.  I would like to hear from anyone who believes they could be related to these lines.  I will be adding sources for some of these areas in the future.

Mine:

Alex ARNOLD / MariaTHEILER family from Simplon-Dorf, Switzerland to KY—I have substantial documentation on this family.  There are many descendants of this family including surnames LINK, SCHMITT, SCHLAPPI spread throughout Kentucky and many other states.  Click here to view ancestor information.  (Under Construction.)

Andrew RAUCK family and Jacob JULIUS (click here to view Jacob Julius ancestry) (under construction) family came from Germany to Southern Indiana - Much info about this family available at RAUCK Group on Yahoo.

Or trace the extensive RAUCK tree at Gencircles, from my Great Grandmother Elizabeth RAUCK JULIUS at:

http://www.gencircles.com/users/rauck/1/data/866.html

This tree is maintained by Dr.Michael Rauck, a German researcher who has compiled Rauck data from many cousins and other sources.  I did not provide the info on my ancestors which appears here, but found it while searching and it connected me to many distant cousins.

Or, try the Rauck mailing lists at Rootsweb (click the link next to either subscribe address and type subscribe in the body of your message to subscribe:

Warren LESLIE / Mary BLANKENSHIP family – lived in Atlanta, GA in the mid 1800’s, interested in hearing from anyone who might have info on ancestors of this couple.  Warren’s parents appear to be John LESLEY, b. abt. 1804 in SC, and Margaret (__), b. abt. 1806 in SC.  Mary’s father was William BLANKENSHIP, b. abt. 1801 in VA, and his father was probably Thomas P. BLANKENSHIP, b. abt 1778 in VA.  Click here to view the ancestry of my great grandmother Alice Leslie O’Brien.(Under Construction.)

Rootsweb mailing lists for these surnames:

JENNINGS, BAINES / BAYNES / BANES, MULROONEY probably all from Castlebar, Co. Mayo, Ireland area.  Martin (Maddin) BAINES (various spellings) was b. abt. 1800-1804.  He married Anna MULROONEY who was born between 1820-1823.  Martin’s daughter Mary was born about 1835, we don’t know who her mother was – probably not Anna, due to timing.  Mary married Thomas JENNINGS, who was born about 1825 in the area of Castlebar, Co. Mayo, Ireland.  Lots of difficulty tracing these lines any further.  Click here to view the ancestry of my great grandfather, Thomas Jennings.(Currently under construction.)

Peter RYAN / Mary FLAHERTY family (both born and died in Ireland).  We have few specifics on this family, except that their son, Patrick Joseph RYAN was born 10 Dec 1855 in Ireland and married Mary Cecelia BURKE, daughter of :

John BURKE / Mary TONERY (spelling variations on both of these names) who were both born in Ireland, both died in Louisville, KY.  One of these two may have had a mother with the maiden name O’HERN.

My husband’s lines:

King family in South Central Mississippi (Lawrence, Marion, and surrounding counties) - Wiley King is the earliest known ancestor. Wiley’s wife Patience Peacock?  Click here to see Mississippi family links.  My information on this line is almost exclusively from research shared by our distant cousin, Val L. Lunday, Jr.  Please contact him if you think you connect to this line.  In case the link for Val does not work, please e-mail him at:  vllunday@flash.net .  Some other researchers have thought that Wiley descended from Charles King and Elizabeth Gardener. Here is cousin Val’s explanation for not believing this to be so:  Charles King.

Bullock family in Mississippi, presumed to descend from Hugh Bullock.  Many Bullock websites exist with extensive information.  Try

Bullock

Bullock Family Association

Or subscribe to the Bullock mailing list at Rootsweb.

Garrett in Simpson County, Mississippi, earliest known ancestors William Garrett and his wife Lucinda.* Click here to see Mississippi family links .

Chapman / Chapmon family in Rankin and Simpson counties, Mississippi – may have descended from Joseph Chapman / Elizabeth Brown of Jones or Wayne County, MS * Click here to see Mississippi family links.

I moderate a very small mailing list for descendants of Allen F. Chapman and Eliza Shipp, especially the descendants of Allen and Eliza’s son, Lewis T. Chapman.  If you are researching these lines and would like to join this list, please click below.

Perry family, earliest known ancestors Samuel W. Perry / Susan Smith – of Rankin County, MS *

* These ancestors originated in other states, including Georgia, Louisiana, Virginia and the Carolinas, but my research has not gone beyond them to pinpoint a more specific location before they arrived in Mississippi.

James William Robinson (b. 1850) and Ellen Rolston  were married in Kosciusko County, IN in 1871, and were the parents of Albert Casper Robinson, b. 1876.  Ellen died before 1880.  By the 1880 census, James had married Mary (Elzine or Alzine) Alderson and was living in Cowley County, KS.  I have a lot of questions about this family – anyone with info?  James’ parents appear to be Isaac Robinson and Harriet (?) who appear in the 1850 census of Allen County, Indiana with 1 month old James.

Albert Casper Robinson b. married Fanny Bell Morgan (b. Hoosier, KS, March, 1881), daughter of William Riley Morgan (b.Ohio, Dec.1845) and Elizabeth Dorothea Redford (b.Missouri, d.before 1880 census).  Albert and Fanny lived in Cowley Co, KS.

William Sherman Muncy married Mary Sizemore (b. bet 1832-1839, McKee, Jackson Co, KY, d. 1889 in Madison County, AR) in Clay County, KY Oct 25, 1856.  William appears to be a descendant of Francis Muncy I, and his mother, Agnes Bowling, appears to be one of the many possible descendants of Pocahontas.  I have not researched all of this, but have found a number of other.  Mary Sizemore is probably a descendant of Old Ned Sizemore, documented in Cherokee by Blood, Records of Eastern Cherokee Ancestry in the U.S. Court of Claims, but I have been unable as yet to document her exact ancestry.  Her father may be a John Sisemore, although a Henry Sizemore signed her marriage bond.  More info on Mary’s parentage would be most appreciated.

William Muncy and Mary Sizemore’s daughter, Hannah Louise Muncy, married George Edward Babcock.  George was the son of Moses Babcock and Sarah Horner.  I have a lot of questions about this family, also.  Moses lived in several Iowa counties before moving to Arkansas.  Any info on this family would be helpful.  Moses appears to be the son of William Babcock, and appears to have had another family in Indiana before marrying Sarah Horner.  I am still researching this.

Please watch for more info to be added to this site as I learn how to do it!

My favorite general genealogy websites:

http://www.cyndislist.com/

http://www.rootsweb.com/

http://www.familysearch.com/

Great all around search engines, especially for genealogy:

http://www.google.com

Helpful sources of primary documentation:

http://www.glorecords.blm.gov/PatentSearch/Default.asp?

The GLO searchable database of land records is back online and has a new look.  contains a searchable database of information relating to land documents throughout most of the U.S., with links to images of the actual documents.  Even more amazing, there is no cost to access these documents or print a copy from home.
