The story of Cymon and Iphigenia is taken from Boccaccio's Decameron. As Iphigenia sleeps with her attendants in a grove by the sea, the simple shepherd boy, Cymon, stumbles upon the group. Immediately upon seeing Iphigenia's beauty, Cymon becomes spellbound.
