The show has as scenario the Batería de Ceremonia de la Fortaleza de San Carlos de La Cabaña, to the east of the City. It is executed by young soldiers from the Military Service.

They wear dresses with similar uniforms to those used by the body of official and soldiers during the reign of Carlos' III, who ordered to build the place,and converted then, in the biggest military fortification in Spain in America.

Chivalry, artillery and infantry are the weapons represented in the function, maneuvers that it is executed under the voices of the boss's of the endowment control, also conformed, for a registered, a drummer and a brag who in their group, they attract the visitor's attention and with it the running of photographic cameras and videotapes.

Their origins date from a regulation of the XVI century that governed the military activities in the barracks, in which was ordered to shoot a gunshot at 4:30 in the morning and another of retreta at 8:00 pm at night.

Sporadically was felt the one that indicated the entrance of the marine mail.

From colonial times, the social life of the citadinos was organized starting from the gunshot, because that of 8.00 pm at night, they took it like reference for the beginning of the retretas, while the bell of the theaters alerted about the beginning of the function, moment also that it indicated the windows boyfriends that could come closer to the lover, and to the watchmen, the beginning of its respective beats.
