Just Me....
Hello, my name is Kate. My two four-leggeds and I recently Milwaukee, WI . About four years ago I was laid off after some 28 years in medical technology. I worked for Starbucks for three years in Virginia before I moved here and met a lot of new friends and and learned an awful lot about coffee and tea (go ahead, ask).   Since I was a customer before I was a barista, I really enjoyed my job and spent a lot of time there with my friends.  I'm currently setting up my new home and job hunting. Kate's Coffee House is now open in Centre Ridge..come visit and meet some special friends..and have a cuppa.
As you may have guessed, I love cats and have two snuggly ones.  I'll let them introduce themselves on their own pages.  My first cat, Toby, has passed away, but he was quite an opinionated cat.  And he had an opinion on everything.  Although he died ten years ago, I still miss him.
I collect folk dolls, mainly Lizzie Highs and Attic Babys.  I'm going to try to find some web resources on them to put on my general links page so you can find out about them yourselves.  Generally, Lizzie Highs are wooden character dolls, each being named after friends, neighbors and family of the designer.  I will try to take some photos of mine to show you.   Attic Babies are character rag dolls, designed to seem as if they are aged.  Each one has a name.   My very favorite is Fertile Myrtle.  She comes with two babies in a basket, one in her arms and pregnant to boot.  I also have a life-size one of these called Flirty Girty who lives on my love seat.  The cats sleep on her lap when I'm not home.  I also collect Cat's {(-;} Meow Villages which I put on top of my door and window frames.
Native American Art has also been a love of mine for a very long time.  All the wall art in my home is by Native Americans and one of my fondest memories is my trip to the Southwest where I was able to purchase a lovely kachina from the sculptor himself and visit Frank Howell's studio.  My favorite artists you'll find in my showcase pages.
Well that's about enough on me.   I hope you enjoy my site and its subjects.  Please sign my guestbook and let me know what you think.
Don't be a stranger, do come back and visit again.

((Hugs)),
Kate
