Camp Alger was one of a series of Army
camps established at the outbreak
of the Spanish-American War in 1898.
It was located in the Dunn Loring
area of Fairfax County, around and
south of the W&OD (known at the time as
the Bluemont Branch of the Southern
Railway).
The photo above shows the passenger
cars lined up and ready to transport
soldiers. The photo below is
