The following 4 photographs are of a C-54P aircraft that had been purchased by the Transvall Corp. from MASDC (boneyard) at Davis-Monthan AFB and refurbished for use in a civilian capacity. According to the Aviation Safety Network web page, the crew attempted to take off with the gust locks still engaged. The crew failed to abort the take off attempt causing the aircraft to overrun the runway. There were 3 crewmen onboard and all 3 survived the accident.
The following photographs belong to my father-in-law Clyde Sutton who served with the 319th Fighter Squadron of the 325th Fighter Group during WWII. They appear to be "store bought" pictures with the copyright going to Wm. T. Hoff. One of the things that the 325th Fighter Group has in common with the 355th Fighter Group is that they both went thru Mitchell Field at one point or another during their WWII operations.
