Skewer lesson | |||||||||||||||||||
Hello! This lesson is quite easier than others but useful of course... :> O.K Basically, it's kinda like pin + discovered check or similar. Actually, my book tells me that it's the inverse of pin. hmmm... what does that mean? O.K You attack a more valuable piece to expose the less valubale piece behind. That's how far it can go, really... Thanks... :> |

Let that rook hit the left top corner. See what happens to the king and a free black rook. |

The point of skewer ! O.K anyone played a hostage game knows this situation! A bank robbery gangs escape the bank front door holding a hostage so police can not shoot! Get it now? Skewer in chess is like making your king a hostage so you can pass through and earn a cheap free capture. Rooks , Queens, bishops any piece with some direct attack can get you that ! So try to see if his king is exposed to your direct forces! Then aim the king or queen and gain free cheap capture! Lesson over! |
