Are you curious about what Beta Sigma Phi is? It is a group of women who gather at meetings to share Life, Learning and Friendship. In the process we volunteer for community needs, raise funds for various charities, and have fun doing it. Our latest service is the Carnation Campaign for the M.S. Society and helping one of our new members in her journey to Amsterdam for Team Diabetes!!. We have also helped with the Elizabeth Fry Society and the Jubilee Lodge and look forward to helping again.
We range in ages from early twenties to mid thirties, newly weds to Soccer Mom's. Some have full time careers, some are self-employed, and some are very busy stay at home moms.
You ask, how do we make time for a meeting a month? We just do, because Sorority is for us, as individuals. It has given many of us the confidence to follow our dreams. Knowing that we have a group of supporters behind us, knowing that we are not alone in our times of need, helps.
In addition to the meetings once a month we try to get together for a social. We have had Karaoke parties, BBQ's, camping, movies and craft nights. We even include our spouses and children in 1 or 2. Our woodcraft workshop was popular with both kids and hubbies. Those are just a few. There are three city wide events every year where we gather with all the other chapters, (80-100 women). These are Beginning Day, Potluck Supper (Bring food, dress up to theme and enjoy our own entertainment) and of course Founders' Day (we formally accept our new members).
Our chapter is growing and the more the merrier. There is just so much more that words can't express, you will have to come to a meeting to find out.
