Our story
Larry was from a hunting family. He grew up with hunting dogs and a shotgun. Growing up his family had a variety of dogs, however among these breeds were several spaniels and several spaniel crosses. He developed a strong affection and respect for the spaniels hunting style and stamina. It was a natural progression for him to move into breeding and training these wonderful hunting dogs.
Charlene did not grow up with a hunting family and prior to meeting Larry had never shot a shotgun. What she did have was a love of dogs and dog training. Having trained and competed her first obedience dog at the age of 12, she developed a good basic understanding of dog training. She developed a love of hunting and hunting spaniels after meeting Larry.
We hunt Grouse, Pheasant and Quail in Colorado, Wyoming, Nebraska and Kansas. During hunting season, if we can get away, we are hunting. During the off season we train ours dogs and compete our dogs in various hunting events. We belong to several field trial clubs and have put on many hunging events. We, along with the members of the Rocky Mountain Springer Spaniel Club, put on the first AKC Field Trial for Cocker Spaniels in over 30 years in April of 1993. Together we have been training hunting spaniels (English Cockers and English Springer Spaniels) for many years. We are both accomplished judges of Spaniel field events and have judged all levels of AKC Spaniel Hunt Tests. Larry is also a recognized judge of AKC Field Trials for Cocker Spaniels.
