These links will take you to helpful and informative sites on the Middle Ages, detailing culture, technology, warfare...just about everything.  This can supplement the knowledge provided in the novel, to help you better understand what it's about.  The thing is, though, that the novel takes place in a rather specific place -- between the end of the Middle Ages and the beginning of the Renaissance, in a fairly uneventful span of time.  So most of this information is for the 12th through early 15th centuries, not the late 15th.  But if I gave links to the Renaissance, then it will be all 17th century and not 15th century.  So this is the best I could do...

This site, at Bringham Young University, not only contains a lot of more general, yet often overlooked materials, but has one of the most comprehensive lists of Medieval resource and information pages out there. NOTE: No longer supported at Bringham Young.

WWW Medieval Resources:
I haven't gone through this one yet, but it's a rather well-known site out there on Medieval resources.  Sponsered by Virgina Tech.

ORB:  Online Resource Book for Medieval Studies:
This is definitely the most famous source of Medieval Information, providing not only massive amounts of actual Medieval texts, but in-depth analyses and well-organized links to specific areas of study (such as late Medieval France, the role of women, etc).  Warning, however.  Only for those who are really into the Medieval world.  Difficult to follow if you're just looking for basic information.  Supported by Rhodes University.

Also very well-known, with easy-to-follow navigation to specific cultures and countries. Supported by Georgetown University.

NetSERF:  The Internet Connection for Medieval Resources:
This is one of my favorite Medieval sites.  It's like a search engine meant purely for the Middle Ages.  A very comprehensive index of sites, and easy to find obscure information.

Late Medieval Europe and Italian Renaissance -- Clothing:
Clothing's often not addressed outside costume pages and SCA pages.  So I have this here for those looking for period clothing of the late 15th century.
