5. Play as many games as you can to earn np (neopoints), don't worry about buying food at first, there are so many places you can get it for free!

When you get some np built up you can either start training your pet (if you want a Battledome master), open up a store (you will probably have to do this eventually anyway, it's the easiest way to earn np), open up a bank account (again, this will be an eventual anyway), or start collecting whatever items draw your interest to make your own gallery.
7. Along with your main account you can have up to four other accounts to use as Galleries for items you collect, etc.
8. Once you've played for a while there are so many things you can do. Here are some examples (by no means a complete listing) of some of the areas you can concentrate on:

b) Train your pet at the Battledome and enter it in fights

f) Join a guild to meet other people interested in the same things as you
g) Play tons of different games and try to win trophies
h) Get lost in Neoquest I or II (an RPG type game)
i) Get involved with the current mystery on Neopets and try to solve the clues
j) Write stories and articles and try to get them published in the Neopian Times
k) Find a theme you're interested in and collect items for your gallery
l) Play the Neo Stock Market
m) Start a stamp collection and buy stamps for your Album
n) Become a whiz at trading
o) Participate in auctions
p) Lose yourself in the Neopets Trading Card Game (online and real-life)
I could go on and on and never even come close to listing all the activities you can participate in on Neopets. It's safe to say there's something for everyone and it's a great site, well-managed and they care about the safety of their members.
