Poem of the Week * October 27 to November 2, 2002 |
Moonlit Night in Kern County |
Wild savages, powered by MD 20-20, run naked in the moonlight, glowing wooded fairies, like childish fireflies, lighting and dipping into natural hot springs down the canyon. Howl at the moon. Slabs of concrete rise, monoliths, sentinels lay bare offering the table for sacrifice. The open air concert plays on, humming, as fireflies transform to pups, yipping and biting at each other's tails playing in the moon-beam, oooooing into the sky. So the musical plays out in a memory that glints like moonlight in my mind. |
