Normally one of the best things about living, and being a Law Enforcement Officer in a rural county, is you get to know most of the folks in your county. However, at times that can haunt your sleep. Whenever an officer has to deal with the death of a child, it is hard. But when you know the child, and the family, dealing with this loss is that much harder. You grieve with the family, while still trying to do your job in a professional way. In May of 1999, Adria's father reported her missing. This was out of character for Andria who was known for being a good Christian girl, well liked at school and with a lot of friends. For three days local law enforcement, friends, family and the FBI searched for Andria. All hoping she would be found and returned home. However, on the third day an arrest was made and after a confession, the suspect lead authorities to Andria. She had been raped and murdered. Since then, the suspect Andria's uncle, has been convicted of capitol murder and has been sentenced to the death penalty. Andria was twelve years old when this occured, a young life is over. We, at the Sheriff's Office, still offer our prayers and sympathy to the family. If ever you need our help, just call. |
