SIGHS OF DAWN In the solemn eyes of a ponds glass face sorrow etches ripples undulating green as tears turn to mist and rise to paint the dawn the meadowlarks return yellow sparks of song darkness leaves the water paling gentle shades of moss ripples once in fearful circles now return to waves of sighs bliss is found in light of day when beauty can be seen sadness won't return til sunshine bleeds away by Sheryl McCurdy |

I LONG FOR SAPHIRE The blue of your sky laughs in fat clouds I think of this tonight As I part the gray curtains of moon mist Reaching to wipe with cool fingers My fevered brow I have awakened from a nightmare Found myself twisted in the sheets alone Mired in the cool sweat of fear My sky has been under the veil of storms for so long that Laughter is a quest of great magnitude For now I will allow myself the pleasure of pure hate Because though I am ashamed to admit to the truth I envy the giggling sapphire sky of your view by Sheryl McCurdy |
