SHADOWS CALLED OUT During the fall of evening shadows last night something called to me spirits were swaying and dancing sinuous shapes twisting alluring me with violet patterned beckoning the outline of a memory captured in supple arms of ebony now reached out stroking the wooden floor a caress all too soon ebbing away as the sun began to tire and set to sleep my mind now prodded by those tempting shades could not and midnight found me dancing alone remembering... another moonless night beneath the face of silent stars by Sheryl McCurdy |

FAREWELL TONIGHT TO DAY Sinking onto the new mown grass soft moon rays settle there spreading out like a beautiful linen tablecloth waiting for lovers to picnic upon The stars look like bubbles from champagne as they twinkle against a velvety backdrop the brook chatters then sings a sweet love song accompanied by wind chimes and fiddler crickets serenade too the night air smells of honeysuckle and lavender gentle breezes flap the edges of the milky tablecloth... slowly but surely the night begins to pale and though love songs still sweetly sing in honeysuckle and lavender scented air the moon folds up her cloth and packs it away in hopes that lovers will long to picnic when moonlight bids farewell tonight to day by Sheryl McCurdy |
