Pass the Pen
Chapter 2, Jack Comes to the Party

By Lady Jamers

Both Will and Elizabeth spin around to see Jack standing or would it be more accurate to say swaying in front of them. The man was drunk again and had a bottle of rum in his hand.

"Jack! What are you doing here? Did you get an invitation to the party?" Will asked.

"Since when do I need an invitation to go anywhere?" Jack replied to Will. Then he turned to Elizabeth and said, "You look fine as always, Elizabeth. But may I inquire about something?"

Elizabeth nodded.

"Do you have something against clothes? You always seem to be taking them off in my company. I find it flattering, actually. Perhaps you and Will were going to have a tête-à-tête out here or something more intimate. Excuse me if I am interfering." Jack said as he passed them on the way into the party.

Will stopped Jack from entering and asked, "Do you think it is wise to join the party? It is a high society costume ball. I don't want to have you doing anything stupid."

"I am very high myself, at least tonight, I am. Unlike you, my boy, I usually don't do anything stupid. Now, let me go in. I have a date with the buffet table. Maybe one of those rich old broads would like to have some fun for the night, too!" Jack said as he walked into the party.

Elizabeth grabbed Will's arm. "Go after him, Will. I am sure he will ruin Father's party."

"Shouldn't I help you dress first? We can just get rid of this piece of clothing." Will said as he pulled out her corset and threw it over the balcony.

In the background, he heard someone yell, "Hey, watch what you are doing!" Will must have hit someone with the corset. He ignored the man, below and helped Elizabeth back into her dress. Together they went back into the party, but they were a little too late to stop Jack from getting into trouble. Jack all ready succeeded in achieving that.

"See here, my fine man, I have right as well as anyone here. Besides, I am in costume, I am Captain Jack!" Jack said as he slurred his words.

The Governor strolled over to see what the commotion was. He looked down his face at Jack. He wasn't pleased to see the pirate had busted into his party.

Elizabeth went to her father's side and said, "I'm sorry, Father. He was hungry. He will leave now, won't you Jack?"

"As you wish, Miss Elizabeth. Anything for you, my dear." Jack said with a lecherous smile. He picked up his bottle of rum and said, "Which way is the door?"
