Jack was up in a tree a few yards away from the back entrance to the
Duchess's house.
"Bloody..." Jack muttered, as his hair snagged in a branch
above his head. He disliked trees. He much preferred climbing ship's
masts.
Elizabeth hadn't had any trouble obtaining invitations to the
party, The plan was that she and Will would create a distraction, one
of them would signal Jack, and he would sneak in and steal the
jewels. All Jack could do right now was wait. And waiting was
something that Captain Jack Sparrow did not like to do.
*********************************
As soon as Elizabeth and Will stepped into the sitting room a
large, heavyset woman bustled over to them.
"Elizabeth. Will." She said greeting them with a smile. "I'm
so glad you could come."
She led them across the room to a small couch.
Several people were playing card games at small tables around
the room while others sat and chatted. In a room off to the right sat
a glass case with the jewels.
Elizabeth and Will took a seat and talked with the duchess
for a while. As they chatted, their uneasiness at what they had come
to do grew.
************************************************
Jack had been waiting out in the tree for what seemed to be
an unbelievably long time. What was taking them so long? He decided
he'd better go check things out. Just to make sure all was going
according to plan.
