Come rest a spell in my neck of the woods
Where the beauty of nature is loved
and understood
Where I make my home on a gently rolling
hillside
Enjoying the peace and tranquility only
nature can provide.
The air is clean and the waters run cool
and clear
Woodland creatures live and play, such as
a family of deer.
Majestic mountains render a constant
scenic view
Affording a sense of strength and
security too.
Wild turkey cross the meadows
travelling in single-file
Cautiously listening and watching
with the instinct of the wild.
At dusk fireflies gather to dance
and play
As into the wooded nesting ground, a
spotted fawn makes his way.
An evening sunset graces the sky in
golden tones and pinkish hue
To be followed by an early morning
sunrise calling forth the day anew.
Birds rest in treetops weary from
their busy day of flight.
Stars shine forth in the heavens
on a clear dark night.
Yellow moonlight eases the woods
into a nocturnal affair
The familiar hoot of an owl can
be heard in the "distant somewhere."
Then gently the night gives way to
the sun's early light
The birds begin to sing their songs
as they prepare for another day's flight.
The rooster's crow, a call to arise,
can be distinctly heard
From their night's sleep the woodland
creatures begin to stir.
Such are the wonders of nature with
its many adventures untold.
Each day brings a fresh beginning with
its beauties to behold.

the mountains of Virginia where
we were surrounded by nature
including a family of deer.
