Come listen to a story 'bout a turkey
named Jed,
Who turned the tables on his predators,
so it's been said.
Now, ole Jed knew where they was a
huntin' him that day
So he loaded up his musket and headed
out that way.
To the woods that is...turkey haven,
where turkeys run free....
Now, it wasn't long before ole Jed
came to a clearing in the woods.
He spread his tail feathers and there
he proudly stood.
As it was nearing day-break,
the noisy hunters could be heard.
With those wild turkey calls ole
Jed was supposed to be lured.
With the call of female turkeys that is..
love calls...irresistable mating calls...
Hearing these wild calls, Jed
quickly made reply,
Knowing soon his lovely plumage
the hunters were sure to spy.
As into the clearing those eager
hunters came,
Ole Jed raised his musket and
began to take his aim!
Goin' to surprise those predators...
they're sittin' ducks...
good target practice!
Shocked at seenin' a turkey toten a gun
Jed had scared those hunters, settin'
them on the run.
Now, it's for certain those hunters
won't be huntin' Jed anymore,
For they suddenly dropped their muskets
and back through the woods they tore.
Yee-Haw!!!
As in..running backwards that is...
tripping over one another...
couldn't get out of there fast
enough!
Now, I've told this silly little tale
Which we both know isn't true...
The moral of this tale?
Well...I'm leavin' that to you!
