As long as no one is obliged, and usually does refer to exact equality of his age and the age of a purported partner when choosing a marriage partner, abundance or deficiency of males of a particular age is hardly relevant to this task. Correlation of genders in a significantly large age group, inside which choice is usually done, is far more descriptive in this respect.

The following age groups have been defined:
• The reproductive group. Its bounds are defined by biological limits. Reproduction is hardly conceivable outside it, being pathological in some way, if the case be. > foetus-pathologies -
• The socially acceptable group. This group is limited by the majority-age (in Russia - 18 y), from above (in the chart), and by 35 years from below. The lower margin is defined, firstly, by the age when labour still does not cause complications for a mother or a child; secondly, by the fact that parents are still able to bring a child up till the optimal age for its marriage, remaining robust enough (the pension age was thought of as a marginal age of decent physical capacity) to be a real help for their children in bringing up their own.

However, the reproductive age comprises the following sub-groups:
• "Immaturity" age. Marriage is not desired in this group, because the spouses would be both unprepared socially and lacking wisdom of life.
• The optimal group. Marriage and childbirth in this group are the most optimal in respect to both biophisiological parameters of the partners and their social maturity, career and experience. At this time the sexual attractiveness of women is maximal, extending their area of choice of a male to limits.
• "Mature" group. 27-35 y.o. Although, marriage and childbirth is yet acceptable, it is not the optimal age already.
• "Overmaturity" age. 36-43 y.o. This is the age when starting a family is not recommended, but is acceptable yet.
• "Withering" group. 44-52. It would be better for a woman to restrain herself from childbirth at this age.

It is well known that male's age is usually 3 years above female's in average. We should take into account solely the existance of this fact, even though this is not due to instincts, but traditions, social consciousness and other factors (i.e. a female student can hardly get acquainted with a 30 y.o. male, she has to be happy with senior students).

By the way: The instinctive age-confined maximum of attraction is not relative, it is absolute, in fact, and is 22-24, 3 years more or less, for females, and 31-32 for males, 3-4 years more or less (with the COMPULSORY requirement of being "in a good condition"). It means that a 50 y.o. male is mostly attracted to females of 22-24, not 47; utmost young lads (under 20) are attracted to considerably older females. However, it is not that easy to get along with their sympathies in both cases. This is the reason why an athletic male of 32 is more attractive, than the very same, but of 23. It is easy to look blooming in 23, whereas good looks in 32 means good health and heirs as well. A similar time-filtering does not take place for females for some reasons, which we will not review in this article, but which increase frequency of birth-patologies and foetus-pathologies for children born by "elderly" mothers (which is not a secret itself). Notoriously there is no such a relation detected between the frequency of pathologies and the father's age. There is even the controversial belief that geniuses and talents are born of elder fathers mostly.

It becomes apparent that though there are more women in Russia than men, they overweigh solely because of persons older than 40, and persons out of the reproductive age in particular. Redundancy of males can be observed in bounds of socially acceptable age as a whole and in subgroups, to tell nothing about that it is observed in both synchronous groups and groups with the 3 year shift. So, that old song claiming "statistics say there are 9 lads for 10 gals" is completely untrue nowadays. We suspect it was untrue even at the moment it was being written. We believe they reckoned the relation between quantities of males and females in GENERAL, without respect of the age structure. Frankly speaking, analysis of the corresponding data of other countries gives us an even more fascinating picture: the more high the development of a country is, the longer the people's life is, the later the deficiency of males appears! In Finland, for exmaple, this figure is 50! The lack of males is observed after 25 in developing countries though.
