NASTY FACTS. Formed in Brooklyn, New York 79/80. They were previously called Pandemonium but soom changed to the catchier Nasty Facts when Cherl Boyze joined. Miss Boyze (a/k/a Boyce) was the tom-boy bass-guitarist and vocalist/songwriter in this highly underated outfit. In 1981 they released their only vinyl output, the catchy 3 track 45 'Drive my Car' b/w 'Gotta Get To You' / 'Crazy Bout You' out on Jimboco Records of New York City. It's quality didn't gain em much attention outside the big apple but it wasn't long before it travelled across the ocean where it got licensed and turned up on the tiny Dudley based 5th Column Record label here in the UK, which is where I got to hear em. John Peel on Radio One often played them on his radio show too, but sadly that was the last we heard from em as the Nasty Facts. |

NASTY FACTS played mainly around the New York City area taking in most of the regular punk haunts. For those not familiar with their sound imagine a female fronted CHANNEL 3 from LA. They showed great promise if their vinyl epitaph is anything to go by with a good take on addictive punk rock and Cherls vocals adding a bit of raunch. I'm suprised more tracks ain't hiding away on some long lost tape somewhere? (You can hear some live tracks and an mp3's of the single on the bands site below) They sadly soon faced the facts and went the way of a lotta other good bands without major backing. For more information check out their site for the whole story which is run by their guitarist Brad Craig. nastyfacts.com/nastyfacts/index.html |
