He first enlisted as a Sgt. in the 27th Michigan Infantry.
During the great exchange of men he was transfered to the 2nd Michigan Infantry and made a 2nd Lt. in Company "A".
He was 32 when he enlisted in Ovid Mich. on the 30th of November 1863.
He was transfered to Co. A 2nd Mich. Inf. & Promoted to 2nd Lieut on the 1st of April 1864.
He died prisoner at Petersburg Va. in 1864.
He as a headstone in the Leoni Cemetry in Jackson Co. I do not know if this is a memorial of his actual burial place.
He left behind his Widow: Eliza Berry.
