"According to Edwina Bankson, granddaughter of Edward and Elizabeth, Elizabeth was Catholic, and because she married outside the church, she was disowned by her family.
She says her mother went to Ft. Wayne, Indiana one time to visit Elizabeth's family, and the door was shut in their face.
Most of Edward's children were born in Amboy Township, Hillsdale County Michigan, which is located on the North side of Williams County, Ohio.
They lived either in Detroit, Michigan or Montpelier, Ohio all their lives. The railroad connected Montpelier and Detroit, and some moved back and forth.
He was disabled in 1912, because of war wound and admitted to the Soldiers and Sailors on October 17, 1916 with paraplegia.
According to Joseph Paul Bohner (December 28, 2001): "Edward died of heart disease during the blizzard of 1918, and his body was held in the funeral home, until they could get to the cemetery. He was then taken out and buried in the snow, until it melted and they could dig his grave on January 26, 1918.
