Adam Kolb came from Germany in 1857. His Home City was Detroit. At the age of 20 he enlisted in Company A along with his brother Frank (Frank was 21). He served throughout the war until June 11th 1863 when he was captured at Jackson, Miss.

He was confined to Libbey prison until the close of the war. Adam Kolb was a shoe maker and practiced his trade until a few years before his death. A family story is that he even made shoes in Libbey prison to insure better treatment of he and his fellow prisoners.
