Argusineer -or- Argersinger (actual Spelling), Daniel

Co. "B"

The Argersinger family moved to Wheatland township in Hillsdale County during the 1840's from Fulton County, New York. Daniel's father Boltis had served in the War of 1812 and received a Bounty Land Warrant for land in Michigan for his service.

Daniel was the youngest of 9 children born on March 12th 1842 in Montgomery Co. New York.

Daniel enlisted in Kalamazoo, as a Private, on April 25th 1861 in the 2nd Michigan, Co. B {at the age of 19. (Roster indicates 26 indicating home was Wheatland)}

{His date of enlistment on the 1863 Adj. General Report indicate May 10th 1861. He was probably Mustered into Federal Service on that date.}

{He was temporarely attached to Co. B 17th Mich. Inf. while the returning veterans where on Furlough. He returned to the 2nd Michigan on 09 April 1864.}

He was discharged June 6, 1864.

He was receiving a pension in his later years for injuries received during the war.

He was married September 16, 1868 to Mary Reeder in Montcalm County. The couple did not have any children.

He died April 29, 1915. He is buried in the Crystal Cemetery, in Montcalm County. (Photo of Headstone on left by Garry Myers Click on it to enlarge)

Daniel had one other brother that served in the war. His name was Jacob and he enlisted December 17, 1862, and was assigned to the 1st MI Light Artillery, Battery L. Jacob died of disease November 25, 1864 while at home on furlough. He is buried in the Churches Corner Cemetery, Wheatland Twp., Hillsdale County. He did not receive a Military marker and his headstone is not very legible anymore.

It is alright to add my name to Ancestors list. The following is the information I have learned about Daniel Argersinger. The last person in the family that would have known anything about Daniel had died 50 years ago, so I had to start from scratch. I will forward any information of interest that may surface in the future.
