Notes from file. Took leave in Feb. 61 due to Jaundice.

Was at Bailey's Crossroads.

On April 25th 1863 in Lebanon, Ky.having been commissioned by the Governor of the State of Michigan as Colonel of the Second Michigan Infantry, He assumed command of the regiment from that date.

Leave again in May 63 to settle his partnership in Adrian, MI.

He was laid to rest in an unknown Cemetery, Location Adrian, Michigan.

In the Bentley Historical Library, McCreery family. Collection there is...

    ...one letter from William Humphrey dated Mar. 1st 1864.

During the movement from Lenoir's, Burnside's rear-guard, composed of Colonel William Humphrey's brigade, had several sharp encounters with Jenkins's advance, in which Humphrey handled his forces so well as to excite the admiration of both friends and foes, always standing long enough, but never too long.
