He was Commission 1st Lt on 16 April 1863 in Co. E 1st Mich. SS and was transfered to that unit.
On the 19th of June 1864 he was transfered from Company E to Company A (1st Mich. SS) and promoted to Captain the same day.
He was Staff for the 2nd Brig, 1st Div, 9th Army Corps.
He was Mustered Out on the 28th of July 1865 at Delaney House, DC.
He joined the Grand Army of the Republic (G.A.R.) Post #48 in Niles Mich.
He died of natural causes on the 6th of June 1911 & was laid to rest at the Mt. Evergreen Cemetery in Jackson Co., Mich.
