William F. H. Holston, living in Niles, at the age of 20 enlisted as a Corp. of Company "E" of the 2nd Michigan Infantry.
He enlisted on the 17th of April 1861 in Niles Michigan.
He was Promoted to 1st Sgt.
He was promoted to 1st Lt. on 24 November 1864. He transfered on the 19th of December 1864 from Company E to Company G.
He was promoted on the 24th of November 1864 to Capt. and was transfered the next day (25th of February 1865) from Company G to Company K.
He was Mustered Out, with the rest of the regiment, on the 28th of July 1865 in Delaney House DC.
His "Last Reported Residence" was Walworth Wisc.
