He enlisted on the 22 April 1861 in Flint. He was 27 years old.
He was transferred on the 1 December 1862 from Company F to Company S & was promoted to QM Sgt. the same day.
Promoted to 2nd Lt. on 7 December 1862.
He was again transferred on the 12 January 1863 from Company S to Company I.
He was transferred on the 24 February 1863 from Company I to Company F.
His death certificate states… “Killed by gunshot to heart on North Anna May 24 64.”. (Reconstructing the battle I'm not able to figure out how--perhaps the 2d had picket duty. Its division was manning entrenchment up on a plateau above the river confeds were on other side of river and much lower. Possibly 2d was sent onto flat ground below.
He was therefore KIA at the battle of North Anna River Va on the 24th of May 1864.
He was laid to rest in the Pine Grove Cemetery on Lewis Road in Arbela Twp Tuscola Co. Mich.
