He enlisted as a private in Co. "F" of the 2nd Michigan Infantry on the 17th of May 1861 in Flint Mich. He indicated his home as being Genesee Co. He was 19 years old.
He was promoted to Corp.
In the course of the Civil War, George could have mustered out 3 times, as a result of 3 major combat injuries. he refused, and served in combat for the full duration of the Civil War. He carried three, unremoved minnie balls for the rest of his life.
George Lee was Mustered Out on the 28th of July 1865 in Delaney House DC.
He passed away of natural causes and was laid to rest in the Kingston Cemetery , Kingston Mich.

His family (largely, his father and stepmother, were among the early founders of Flint, Michigan.
