Jacob Becker was residing in Wayne Co. at the outbreak of the American Civil War.

He enlisted as a Corporal in Company H of the 2nd Michigan Volunteer Infantry {on May 16th 1861 in Fort Wayne} at the age of 28.

Sometimes between December 8th 1863 to January 1864 he Re-Enlisted as a veteran at Blain's Cross Roads.

Muster sheets show that he was given 15 day furlough. He was marked as being Absent Without Leave. (AWOL) since March 13, 1863. He returned and explained that the regiment had moved while he was on furlough, returned to his company on May 1 1863 with papers explaining.

He was wounded in right ear, left side neck and back by minie ball at Knoxville. (The Regiment was at Knoxville between November 17th to December 8th 1863).

He was wounded by a minie ball to his head at North Anna River on May 25 1864. He died the same day from his wounds.

Jacob Becker was laid to rest in Fredericksburg National Cemetery, Fredericksburg Va.
