He enlisted as Capt. Company H, 2nd Michigan Infantry on May 10, 1861 in Fort Wayne at age 35. He was mustered May 25, 1861. He indicated that he was a resident of Detroit.
He was commissioned Lt Col on 13th (21st) August 1862.
He joined his new regiment, 21st Mich. Inf., on Aug. 24, 1862 as Lt. Col.
On August 25th 1862 he became the Colonel (This is a question)
He died of disease in Nashville Tenn. 16 November 1862.
He was laid to rest in the Elmwood Cemetery, Detroit Mich.
