Williams, Adolphus W. was from Lansing Michigan. He enlisted at age 32 as the Major of the 2nd Michigan Volunteer Infantry. He was described as "Good Natured & Accomodating" by Charles B. hayden in his Civil War Journals. (For Country,Cause and Leader)
By March 11th 1862 he had been promoted to Lieutenant Colonel of the 2nd Volunteer Infantry.
On June 10th 1862 he was reported "Absent Sick".
On July 26th 1863 he was promoted to Colonel of the 20th Michigan Infantry.
