A Plea For Prayer

"Thrust in thy sickle, and reap: for the time is come for thee to
reap; for the harvest of the earth is ripe." Rev.14:15 (KJV)
 
We have just come back from a 'spying-out-the-land' trip into the
interiors of Togo. And we came back with burdened hearts.
 
For some time now our team has been praying for God's leading for our
new thrust among the remaining unreached peoples of Togo. And since
then one particular group has continually been impressed upon my
heart . They are the Anufos.  What we knew of the Anufos (or
Tchokossis as they are also known) before we went on this trip was
that they are a certified unreached people group found within the
10/40 window in the far north of Togo in the savanah region . We knew
that they are a majority animist group. And that in recent times the
Muslim population has been growing due to increased Islamic
missionary activities funded from mainly from Kuwait.
 
What we didn't know however, and which we found out in the days we
were there, were these. Firstly, that there are over 80% of this
people had never had any opportunity to hear the gospel even once! In
one of the remote villages we visited we were asking a young man
there if there was anything like a church there and we were stunned
to discover he had no idea of what a church was! In any others all
they knew about the gospel is that it was something that had to do
with a 'fada' (referring to a white roman catholic priest who had
visited one or two of their major villages).
 
The second remarkable thing is how ripe these people are for harvest.
Everywhere we went, even in communities with some Moslem presence, we
and our message were welcomed. In one village the chief gathered the
villagers and asked us to preach to them. They shared with us that
they had been planning just the day before to send one of them to go
look for the 'fada' and see if he could come tell them about the way
of God too. And so they said it must be God who has sent us to them.
We shared about the deliverance and love that is found in Jesus
Christ ,the One God has sent us. They were joyous to hear of God's
love and that day they prayed their first prayers in the name of
Jesus.
 
They asked us to stay and teach them about Jesus. And we are going to
do just that. Germain and Margite Kouassi, members of our team, with
their six-month old baby are getting ready to move in among this
people in 3 weeks time. And in less than 3 weeks following that, we
would be sending six more cross-cultural pioneer missionaries to join
them. They would be located in four different strategic villages and 
from there minister simultaneously in 3 other villages each. We sense
the urgency involved in harvesting this people. We could see a mass
movement to Christ if we move fast. But if we delay we may lose this
harvest to the fowls of the air. Islam is particular a threat in this
area. That is why I am writing this special piece to plead with you
to pray.
 
Would you please join us to claim by faith the Anufos for Christ and
pray for a rapid and massive work to be done by God's Spirit in their
midst as our team members began teaching them the gospel? Would you
pray for God's anointing and protection for these missionaries and
their little children that willing be hazarding  their lives in these
harsh hot interiors so as to see that God's kingdom comes there too?
Please pray too for the large release of financial provision we need
to provide huts, a motorbike, bicycles, teaching materials as well as
support for these missionaries so as to make this outreach possible.
If Kuwaiti Muslims can be willing to invest so much so as to islamise
the Anufos, I believe that as we pray God can find among his people
enough men and women who will be willing to sacrificial give to make
this possible.
 
So I plead with you, my dear friends, PLEASE PRAY!
