Word from Jesus Received on 11-30-98
The daughter despises the mother and refuses to hear the words
The grandchildren steal from the grandparents
My house you neglect--even worse--put to shame
The prophets speak words of comfort and cheer!
The teachers speak vanity and lies in my name
The evangelists are looking for greatness and fame
The singers and players of tambourines dance before me
Who will answer my call and listen to me?
See that child, alone on the street--he needs something warm to eat!
See that man asleep on that bench--covered with newspapers--
See that old woman with dirty, tasseled hair--no comb, brush or shampoo --
See that man as you pass him by--asking for alms--
You protest loudly, "Lord, it's not you! If it was, I would give!"
Will you serve me, whereever you find--
You cannot help everyone; but you can help someone!
Will you listen to me and heed what I say?
Love,
My house they have turned to their own needs and care very little for what I want or need.
My ministers have forgotten how to speak words of comfort to all those in need,
They only speak to those few who come to my house each week--me to seek!
Of wisdom that falls on her ears.
The father has lost control of his house as well as his son
Who refuses to give him the honor that is his due
With hearts that knows no shame.
Everyone has turned to his own way.
Will I not visit a nation like this?
By praising me with lips while not with hearts!
All men do evil continually and call it good; but
No one listens and hears my words!
No words of repentance and obedience do I hear.
The shepherds kill, destroy and feed on my sheep!
They refuse to go out and seek those in need.
And blame the sheep when they go astray!
They quote my words so all men will see how great they are
Then lead hurting, needy women into their beds!
Instead of calling the lost in my name!
Call them to come and look unto me so that here
On earth they, too, can be free!
With not thought of others or those on their streets--
The hungry and naked pass by every day and hear the sweet singing
And wish they could be part of that joy for just one season!
Who will be used to be my hands and my feet?
Who will go outside your walls and listen and look
On all these things and bring in the hurting and lost?
His mother is out trying to earn him some bread--will you stop and share? Or do you care?
See the child with no warm coat that will cover her knees--
Can you help? An old hat, gloves, or a scarf to keep out the breeze?
Holes in the shoes that are on his feet!
Do you have some shoes that you have cast off or an old coat that you forgot?
Would you give it to me or just put it away and save it for "a rainy day?"
Pushing her cart with all she has piled in that thing.
Do you have shampoo or perfume that perhaps you could spare?
Or would you bring her in just for a meal, or bath? --Not a ring!
Do you give him a dime?
Or do you turn away as I ask you for these--
Small things each day as I pass your way?
"Lord, you know that is true!"
But my Word clearly states, "in doing it
For others, you did it for me!"
In a child, old woman, dirty man that you meet?
I am to be found by all that can see! Will you close your eyes;
Or, pass me by, as you walk down the street?
You cannot save everyone; but you can save someone!
You cannot feed everyone; but you can feed someone!
And if you do your part--their needs I will meet!
For I am calling you -- this very day!
To give to me as you give to them,
For I have come down and am passing YOUR way!
