DECEMBER 1 JOY IN THE MORNING

“For though there be a moment in His wrath, there is a lifetime in His favor. Weeping may lodge with us at evening but in the morning there is a shout of joy.” (Psalm 30:5, Smith-Goodspeed)

There are those times and situations where it seems that weeping has surely come in to lodge for the night. You may not have outward tears, but inside your weeping continues – that deep hurt, that intense ache that will not go away. David knew the experience well, and said, “My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say unto me, Where is thy God?” He remembered back to when he once went to the house of God with the voice of “joy and praise” but now it was all different. Yet he was able to look ahead to that “joy in the morning,” when he declared, “I shall yet praise Him, Who is the health of my countenance, and my God,” (Psalm 42:3,11).

While weeping may be lodging with you, there is a place where you are to be lodging at the same time. “He that dweleth in the secret place of the Most High shall abide (lodge, pass the night) under the shadow of the Almighty,” (Ps. 91:1). That is why there is a guarantee that joy will come in the morning. Though it be dark all around, as we ABIDE IN HIM, He works all things together into good. Then shall we sing anew, “Thou hast turned my mourning into dancing: Thou hast put off my sackcloth, and girded me with gladness; to the end that my glory (inner self) may sing praises to Thee, and not be silent. O Lord my God, I will give thanks unto Thee for ever,” (Ps. 30:11-12).

Yes, “He washed mine eyes with tears, that I might see” wrote the songwriter. Through the weepings of the night the debris of the flesh, the dust of the earthy is washed away. We begin to see more clearly the path of righteousness. Morning comes, and with it triumphant proclamations of victory.

From evening to morning the Saviour leads on,
Through weepings at midnight, till darkness is gone,
Triumphant the singing and joy that is found
When morning bursts forth and its vict’ries abound.

DECEMBER 2                              MUCH MORE

“Much more then, being now justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.”  (Romans 5:9)

“The wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men,” (Rom. 1:18).  There is absolute certainty that the energy forces of God will, in due time, be directed against all unrighteousness, to bring an end to that realm, and to purge out all iniquity that has dwelt in and defiled every creature.  “That which beareth thorns and briers is rejected, and is nigh unto cursing, whose end is to be burned,” (Heb. 6:8).   Not for the annihilation of the earth that bore the thorns and briers, but to purge out all such, that a purified earth might bear good fruit to His praise.

The absolute certainty of the total eradication of all evil is irrefutable.  All sin shall be dealt with, all evil purged from the universe.  But then Paul introduces a new dimension, a MUCH MORE realm.  If we are NOW JUSTIFIED by His blood, if this cleansing is now effectively working in us, then we are saved from wrath through Him.  The certainty of being saved is even more sure than the certainty of that wrath.  This is the MUCH MORE that we have in Christ Jesus our Lord.  The heavy hand of wrath is based upon our sinful nature, which deserves it, and shall receive it.  But being saved from wrath is based upon His nature being in us.

Forgiven our sins, the past is blotted out, and then comes the formation of the new, becoming a new creation in Christ Jesus, sinless, pure.  The new is ONENESS IN HIS LIFE, conformed to His image, partaking of His divine nature, then it is “no more I, but Christ liveth in me”.  His indwelling is the security of being saved from all wrath, for He delivers us from all that we are in the first Adam, that we might become all that He is in the Last Adam.

Not as the old, shall be the new, not as the sin which did accrue,
But greater now shall be the score, His righteousness abounding more.
He reconciled, He gives new birth, till righteousness shall fill the earth.

DECEMBER 3                             MORE, MUCH MORE

“But not as the offence, so also the free gift.  For if through the offence of one many be dead, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, which is by one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many.”                    (Romans 5:15)

Interesting to observe that while all Christendom will acknowledge that by one man, and his offence, death passed upon all men, yet they cannot accept the glorious fact that much more the grace of God shall abound unto all men.  That one man’s offence could cause such devastation of the human race, because death passed upon all men, does not provoke an argument, for the evidence is all around us.  But when one man, Christ Jesus, releases the outflow of grace, through His obedience to the will of God, then people find it hard to believe that this shall have the same coverage, for ALL men.

Yet there is also a MUCH MORE to be brought into account here, for the FREE GIFT is not the same as the offence.  One act of disobedience brought the judgment unto condemnation.  But by the time the free gift came on the scene, there was not just one offence to take care of, but now it must cover many offences and a multitude of sins.  Therefore, how much greater is this free gift, able to go beyond all sin and gain the victory, until ALL shall receive His life.

“For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ,” (Rom. 5:17).  There is no need to describe to what extent death has reigned.  But there is a realm, which is greater in its dominion, as we much more reign in life.  Death cannot keep its prey, for LIFE is greater than all death, and Jesus Christ is Lord, both of the dead and the living.  He hath the keys of death and hell, and when He opens the gates of death, every captive shall be set free, and shall come forth into His life.  “Where sin abounded, grace did MUCH MORE ABOUND,”  (Romans 5:20).

Much more than all the sin and strife,
We see in Christ abundant LIFE.

DECEMBER 4                             FIXED IS MY HEART

“He has no fear of evil tidings, he trust the Eternal with a steady heart; his heart is firm and fearless, certain that he will see his foes     collapse.”                        (Ps. 112:7-8, Moffatt).

The exact opposite of a heart that ‘is fixed’, is found in James 1:6-8,  “He that doubteth is like a wave of the sea, wind-driven and storm-tossed,  - for let not that man think that he shall receive anything from the Lord  - A two-souled man is unstable in all his ways,” (Rotherham).  Double-minded, one who is divided in himself, trying to mind two different realms, the flesh and the Spirit.  Such a man cannot receive from God, for faith cannot take root and develop to maturity with this constant changeableness of mind.  “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.  Ye cannot serve God and mammon,” (Matthew 6:24).

In the deeper in workings of God we are brought to where we become FIXED, established in our trust in God.  We know that God is in control, that He will work all things together into good, and we keep our heart quiet and confident.  It is essential that we end all duality, indecision and become solidified in God’s will and way.  Our heart becomes fixed in the way of His holiness, in the leading of His Spirit, and we no longer consider any other alternative.  Having determined that it is to be God all the way, we set our will to become one in His will, with His life to be our life.

Those of His firstfruits will find a place of stability in God, so that they can say with Paul, “but none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy,” (Acts 20:24).

Young’s Literal trans., “but I make account of none of these”.  Were one to ‘make account’; to analyze all the perils, tribulations, etc., they soon could become double-minded, becoming over anxious of these things.  But with our thoughts fixed in God, our steps fixed in His Word, our life fixed in His righteousness, we shall abide in peace.

DECEMBER 5                        PROGRESSIVE POSSESSION

“But the upright shall have good things in possession,”(Prov. 28:10).
“He that putteth his trust in me shall posses the land, and shall inherit My holy mountain,” (Isa. 57:13).

Just as that STONE “cut out without hands” becomes “a great mountain, and fills the whole earth,” Dan. 2:34:35), so also in our individual experience.  The SEED OF LIFE which we have received form Him shall progressively grow in us until “old things have passed away, and all things become new”.  Out of every experience and working of God we have gained a foretaste of that glory which shall be ours in fullest measure as He perfects that which concerneth us.

We have tasted of hope, and enjoyed a measure of peace, we have felt surges of His love, and known rare moments of the power of the age to come, and have been blessed with His rest – yet it has all been so ‘in part’.  Nevertheless, we find that as we are “poured from vessel to vessel”, from circumstance to circumstance, there is a constant change taking place, and a new growth.  When the tears are wiped away and we survey what He has wrought through the dark night of the soul, we find our possession has increased, and we bow low to worship at His feet.

We rejoice “in the hope of the glory of God” and are able to “glory in our tribulations also:  knowing that tribulation worketh patience; and patience, experience; and experience, hope,” (Rom. 5:2-4).  Through it all, these things are WORKING, they are PRODUCING, our possession is being enlarged.  Whereas we once felt as Jacob, “all these things are against me,” (Gen. 42:36), now we come to believe with Joseph, “God meant it unto good,” (Gen. 50:20).

The name Joseph means ‘adding’, so named because when he was born, his mother Rachel felt that her long affliction of barrenness was over, and this first son was a promise that God would add to her another son.  Every time she looked at him, or called his name, it was a reminder of that promise that more would be added.  In every blessing received, in every new portion we possess, lies the promise that there is more to come, until we receive His fullness.

DECEMBER 6 STRENGTHEN THE KINGDOM

“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs 14:34)

In the midst of all the shakings and pressures of the times, when it appears that “truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey,”(Isa. 59:15), we also read that, “The saints of the Most High shall take the kingdom, and possess the kingdom for ever,” (Dan. 7:18). A very interesting facet of truth is found in Young’s Literal translation of this verse, which brings out that not only do the saints receive the kingdom, but, “THEY STRENGTHEN THE KINGDOM unto the age”. For the word ‘possess' comes from a Hebrew word that means ‘to strengthen’. In the measure that we are receiving His kingdom into our lives now, and living that kingdom life, we are strengthening the force of that kingdom in the earth, and it shall progressively gain the victory until it fills the whole earth.

When Jeroboam and the ten tribes separated themselves from the other two tribes of Israel, formed their own kingdom and soon went into idolatry, then, “out of the tribes of Israel such as set their heart to seek the Lord God of Israel came to Jerusalem, to sacrifice unto the Lord God of their fathers. So they STRENGTHENED THE KINGDOM OF Judah”. This lasted for three years, as long as “they walked in the way of David and Solomon”. (II Chronicles 11:16-17).

It is righteousness that exalts a nation – and it is God’s righteousness established in the hearts of His people that will strengthen His kingdom in the earth. We long for the day when “the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea,” ( Hab. 2:14). God has purposed this, and ever the ages have run their course, it shall be fulfilled. But it is with our eye toward the ultimates, that we pray now, “Thy kingdom come, Thy will be don,” IN ME – for it is in this experiential inworking in each of our individual lives, that we “strengthen the kingdom” that it might grow and expand until “all shall know Me, from the least to the greatest,” (Heb. 8:11). May our ‘earthen vessels’ be filled with His righteousness now, and so strengthen His kingdom in this our day.

DECEMBER 7 INVISIBLE REALITIES

“For he persevered as though he were actually seeing Him who is unseen,” (Williams trans). Those who live only by the natural senses of touch, taste, smell, hearing, seeing, require that things be made manifest outwardly and literally in earthy substance. They have no comprehension of the higher realms. Because of this blindness to the spiritual realm, they know little of that comfort and inner strength which causes the believer to OVERCOME, and go form victory to victory.

Paul wrote, “Now we see through a glass darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known,” (I Cor. 13:12). Williams’ footnote gives explanation for the phrase ‘face to face’, “THAT IS, SEE THE VERY REALITIES, GOD HIMSELF, TRUTH ITSELF, etc”. This is the realm set before us, until we shall see God Himself, Truth itself, as the invisible becomes more real to us than this present earthy system about us. So real that the revelation to our spirit is a tangible reality.

It is this partaking of the ‘Spirit realm’ which will enable the overcomer to walk with the royal dignity of His Kingdom, through the circumstances of the present, and emerge victorious, Saying with Paul, “I have come to learn, in the circumstances in which I am placed, to be independent of these,” (Phil. 4:11, Wuest). How can we be independent of our situations? Only when we see HIM who is beyond all our circumstances. When He who is the True Light fills our being with Himself, He dissipates into nothingness the darkness that surrounded us.

“Whom having not seen (by natural sight), ye love; in Whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory.” (I Peter 1:8)

Invisible realities, beholding them we find
Stability to undergird, and blessed peace of mind.
Invisible realities, eyes opened now to see
The glory of the Father once veiled in mystery.

DECEMBER 8 TO REST AT NOON

“Tell me, O Thou whom my soul loveth, where Thou feedest, where Thou makest Thy flock to rest at noon?”
(Song of Solomon 1:7)

Who is this One whom my soul loveth? “The LORD is my Shepherd,” (Ps. 23:1). He is “the GREAT Shepherd,” (Heb, 13:20). For He is “the CHIEF Shepherd,” (I Pet. 5:4). He is not some ‘hireling’ to be called upon to obey our whims and desires, when we need His help. But He must truly be OUR LORD, in total control over all that touches our lives, whose will is pre-eminent, and to which we fully surrender.

Not only will He cause us to feed in green pastures, and lead us beside the still waters, but He also causes His flock to rest at noon. “There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works,” (Heb. 4:9-10). Note how quickly Saul of Tarsus (Paul_ ceased from his own works, and began to serve God in the sphere of the spirit, when he had that special NOON DAY experience. “At mid-day, O king, I saw in the way a light from heaven, above the brightness of the sun, shining round about me and them which journeyed with me,” (Acts 26:13). With this ‘happening’ he came to the end of his own works of persecuting those who believed in Jesus and His way, and thereafter declared, “For God is my witness, Whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of His Son,” (Rom. 1:9). No more to depend upon “enticing words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power,” (I Corinthians 2:4).

The prophecy stands, and shall be fulfilled, “The remnant of Israel shall not do iniquity, nor speak lies; neither shall a deceitful tongue be found in their mouth: for they shall feed and lie down (rest), and none shall make them afraid,” (Zephaniah 3:13).

All the works of the flesh will have ceased, the carnal nature ended, they feed in Him, and come into His rest. And none shall make them afraid, because, ”perfect love casteth out all fear,” (I John 4:18). Clothed with a consciousness of His love, to rejoice in His peace and victory.

DECEMBER 9 HE SHALL RECEIVE ME

“But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for He shall receive me.” (Psalm 49:15)

Usually we are concerned with our receiving Him, for “as many as received Him, to them gave He power to become the sons of God, to them that believe in His name,” (John 1:12). This is certainly needful. But now we would give the emphasis upon His receiving us, for “Him that cometh unto Me I will in no wise cast out,” (John 6:37). “And the Pharisees and scribes murmured, saying, This Man receiveth sinners”, (Luke 15:2). Received ‘as sinners’ does not immediately qualify us for the high realms of glory, but having thus received us, He begins to work in us, to purify and cleanse and perfect until He can take us unto Himself in the fullest sense of the word.

“Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing: and I will receive you,” (II Cor. 6:17). Prerequisite to His receiving us on any deeper level, is BE YE SEPARATE. We must come out from the unholy realms of religious Babylon. Coming out is a process, wrought by degrees, as He strips away the old, and prepares us for the new, until we truly worship Him,” in spirit and in truth”.

Having worked in us a separation from all corruption, then He says, “I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be My sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty,” (II Cor. 6:18). This FATHER-SON relationship is surely a holy realm, and the sanctifying process to prepare us for this realm, and the sanctifying process to prepare us for this realm IN HIM must be complete. Therefore, “whom the Lord loveth He chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom He receiveth,” (Heb. 12:6). When the child-training is complete, we shall be found to His honor and praise.

“Thou shalt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me to glory,” (Ps. 73:24). There is a receiving into glory, not at the beginning of the process, when we are received as sinners, but after He has guided our steps through the whole preparation and maturing process. Then, “I will come again, and receive you unto Myself,”(John 14:3).

DECEMBER 10 CALLED, CHOSEN, FAITHFUL

“These Shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for He is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with Him are called, and chosen, and faithful,” (Rev. 17:14).

There are several qualifications given in this verse. While it is true, that “in all” (or, among all) “HE shall have the preeminence,” (Col. 1:18), for He is “The Firstborn among many brethren,” (Rom. 8:29), being THE KING of kings, and THE LORD of lords, it becomes self=evident that His many brethren are a ‘lordly’ company, and a ‘kingly’ people. They will move in the royal dignity of His character, and manifest the attributes of His nature.

Now it states that they have been CALLED. For “no man taketh this honor unto himself, but he that is called of God,” (Hebrews 5:4). Furthermore, they are CHOSEN – this Divine selection is the result of their having been put to the test, to be tried and proven, and found to meet His specification and thus are chosen. “For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth,” (II Cor. 10:18). While last in the list, certainly not the least, they are FAITHFUL, “Moreover it is required in stewards that a man be found faithful,” (I Cor. 4:2). They have not wavered, they have not cast off their faith, but through all the testings they have adhered to Him, and by their steadfastness proven that they are indeed faithful.

“Unto Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and hath made us kings and priests unto God,” (Rev. 1:5-6). Clothed in fine linen, which is the righteousness of the saints. Lords, kings, priests, called, chosen, faithful – no wonder it speaks of them in Jude 14, literal translation, “Lo, the Lord comes in holy myriads of Himself”. Each one conformed to His image, a partaker of His divine nature; they are an extension of HIMSELF, for they are truly HIS SONS.

No wonder Peter exhorts us to “give diligence to make your calling and election sure,” (II Peter 1:10. We would give total surrender, yielding to His inworkings, that we might be counted worthy “of this calling”. Amen!

DECEMBER 11 TILL THE DAY BREAK

“Until the day break, and the shadows flee away, turn, my beloved, and be thou like a roe or a young hart upon the mountains of Bether”. (Song of Solomon 2:17)

The phrase, ‘in that day’, is often used in the Scripture, pointing to glories and victories which we have not known heretofore. We find that the things of God are progressive in their unfolding, going ‘from glory to glory’. Some would like to claim to be ‘in’ that day now, as if all their speaking thereof would make it a reality. If they are satisfied with what they have at present, then perhaps it is ‘their day’, “for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for? But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it,” (Rom. 8:24-25). If our hearts are not satisfied with what we have seen manifested to this point, then we shall continue to seek Him for a greater revelation and in working of His life in a DAY that is yet before us.

“When reality breaks through…” (John 3:2, Phillips), one will not have to claim it, nor try to convince others that they have it, for our state of being will be its own declaration. Reality needs no announcement or defense, it simply IS.

However long, or short, its duration, we are in a transition time, as we move out of one age into another. That the KINGDOM AGE is nigh at hand is witnessed to very often by the Spirit. Even natural events tell us that the present systems are overripe for the end of this age. Therefore, “Knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand,” (Rom. 13:11-12). Note Phillips, “Why all this stress on behaviour? Because, as I think you have realized, the present time is of the highest importance – it is time to wake up to reality. Every day brings God’s salvation nearer. The night is nearly over; the day has almost dawned”.

Let us walk softly, separate from the spirit of the world, watching for the coming of our Lord, and His glorious day!

DECEMBER 12 MINISTERING TO HIM

“They shall enter into My sanctuary, and they shall come near to My table, to minister unto Me, and they shall keep My charge.”
(Ezekiel 44”16)

There is an order of “righteous sons” who become priests of the Most high God, who enter into His dwelling place, and come near to His table, a table that is prepared for our Lord to partake of. Not a table that we go unto, to feast at ourselves, but a table that is HIS, where we shall minister unto Him. Our worship is toward Him, so that He is the one Who shall be satiated – bringing joy to Him, for His pleasure.

We know all about ‘our table’ for He constantly “prepares a table before me in the presence of mine enemies,” (Ps. 23:5). “Who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed like the eagle’s,” (Ps. 103:5). We praise God for His bountiful blessings to us-ward, as He meets our needs, body, soul and spirit.

But how many of us have ever thought, when we awoke in the morning, “Lord, is there anything that I might place on YOUR TABLE today, that I might minister unto You?” The Melchizedec priesthood is an order that, first of all, will minister unto the Lord. They may also minister unto those in the court, but that is secondary. But there is a deepening desire in the heart of His elect to how, and what it truly means to minister unto Him. To be able to bring to His table that which will bring pleasure to His heart. To be able to “worship Him in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship Him,” (John 4:23).

Surely there is a realm of communion where we can share the very secrets of His heart. Where, rather than being so self-centered on what God can do for us, we are able to “GIVE UNTO THE LORD, ye kindreds of the people, give unto the Lord glory and strength. Give unto the Lord the glory due unto His name: bring an offering, and come before Him: worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness,” (I Chronicles 16:28-29).

Lord, “for Thy pleasure we are and were created,” (Revelations 4:11)

DECEMBER 13 PRIESTS OF THE LORD

“But ye shall be named the Priest of the Lord: men shall call you the Ministers of our God,” (Isaiah 51:6). “They shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with Him a thousand years,” (Rev. 20:6).

Man, as a son of God, must be a priest.

God, because He is LOVE, must sacrifice. ‘Agape-love’ has been defined as ‘a love that is self-sacrificial in nature, that impels one to deny himself for the sake of the loved one’. Love, on the lowest level of human expression, is eros, which is easily turned into all kinds of erotic expression and perversion, for it is self-absorption kind of love. It loves another only for what it receives in return. But God, who is the highest form of love, freely, lavishly, sacrifices all, and it is into this love that He is bringing His sons. The nature of His sons is the same as the nature of the Father, who “freely gives us all things”. (Rom. 8:32).

Man, even in his fallen state, inheriting His nature, must sacrifice, must offer worship. For “we are also His offspring,” (Acts 17:28). However, man in his fall, views God as an exactor, not a Giver, and then he ceases to be a giver unto himself, or to offer himself in a willing sacrifice, and begins to become an exactor, as he perceives, however so falsely, God to be.

When you view God as a wrathful, vengeful, exactor, then if you would emulate your God, you soon turn into one that tries to exact allegiance from the people, and rather than GIVING, you become a TAKER from men. We see this manifested all the time. Perhaps one of the more obvious is the exacting of finances, but more tragic is the exacting of subservient allegiance, so that men bind others into followers of themselves. Thank God, He is cleansing His elect from all this false, perverted view of Himself, and they are beginning to see Him as that GREAT LOVE, that GIVER, Who is MERCIFUL even to the unthankful and the unholy. His priests shall be “AS HE IS”, to minister life, love, compassion and mercy, reconciling the world unto God. Amen!

DECEMBER 14 WHAT IS THY BELOVED?

“What is thy Beloved more than another beloved, O thou fairest among women? What is thy Beloved more than another beloved, that thou dost so charge us?” (Song of Solomon 5:9)

The previous verse reads, “I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if ye find my Beloved, that ye tell Him, that I am sick of love”. Here is desire and longing so intense it cannot be satisfied with anything less than Himself, and His fullness. Many will not be able to understand why it is thus with you. What has you so stirred up, why such deep and intense crying after Him. So they ask, “What is thy Beloved more than another beloved?” And so she begins with the description, “My Beloved is white and ruddy, the chiefest among ten thousand. His head…His locks…His eyes…His cheeks…His lips…His hands…She tries to describe Him in all the ways that they might understand, using terms they are familiar with, but it cannot convey what she really feels in her heart, and finally all she can say is, “yea, HE IS ALTOGETHER LOVELY. This is my Beloved, and this is my Friend,” (Song of Solomon 5:16).

It won’t be the terms and phrases that reach them, but when they sense that deep spirit moving within, and that utter oneness toward Him alone, that love for Him which has drawn you away from all others, to cleave solely upon the Lord, then that LIFE will captivate them, also. So they responded, “Whither is thy Beloved gone, O thou fairest among women? Whither is thy Beloved turned aside? That we may see Him with thee,” (Song of Solomon 6:1). Now they are ready to seek Him! It was not the exalting of some church, some group, or some doctrine. It was that reaching out of pure love for the fullness of His LIFE, and it draws like a magnet. “Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths,” (Isa. 2:3).

The call of my being, as deep unto Deep, this yearning for fullness, a trysting to keep,

Till He in His glory returns to His own, and I’m His forever, yea, I’m His alone.

DECEMBER 15 HE HEARS MY CRY

“I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see, and fear, and shall trust in the Lord,” (Psalm 40:1-3).

AS the pressures of the emptiness within begin to bear down upon us, in time we cry unto the Lord. The Hebrew here is “LOUD CRY”. Interestingly that Jesus also was ‘in all points tempted like as we are”, though without sin. And when He left the realms of Glory in the bosom of the Father, he emptied Himself, “made Himself of no reputation, and took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men,” (Phil. 2:7). Then, “in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications WITH STRONG CRYING AND TEARS unto Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard…”(Heb. 5:7). He experienced the travail of the soul to its very depths, and knew the wrenching of that cry from deep within. He also came forth out of the “valley of the shadow of death” with resurrection life and glorious victory.

In all the realms areas, spheres, whatever – that man has tried, he found no inner peace. “Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, all is vanity,” (Eccl. 1:2). The emptiness of things of the world, even of just going to meetings, the ceaseless cycles over and over again – until we have milked every experience dry, and it brings us to the place that we CRY LOUD from deep within. Only He can save us from the horrible pit of emptiness.

But He does hear, praise God, and He “raises us up together, and makes us sit together in the heavenlies in Christ Jesus,” (Eph. 2:6). Our feet are placed upon a solid rock – a firm foundation, HIS RIGHTEOUSNESS, and He doth establish our goings, leading onward step by step, to bring us into Himself. “That in the ages to come He might shew the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus”. Others then shall see it, and turn unto Him who can so abundantly satisfy.
