ABUSE OF OUR CHILDREN

Cry for help for Michael

WE NEED YOUR PRAYERS!!!

Dear Jessica,
Your story sounds so like my daughter's and my fight to save our Michael from whatever is bothering him and himself. She has experienced the same behavior. Finally in the 3rd grade they diagnosed him ADHD and put him on ritulin. By the next year he was doing well in school (for the first time in all his school years) until my daughter got afraid to give him the ritulin. He became more and more violent towards her and she had moved him into a situation where he was violently whipped by the man she was living with while she was at work. He came away from that experience with violent behavior towards his mother (he felt she had not protected him). The man went to jail but my daughter blamed her son, who is only 10 now, (for sending him to jail) and he blamed her. She could not control him and when she would try, he would run off or scream at her. If they were in the car, he would kick, flop around, scream, yell at her, kick the seat in which she sat driving. If sent to his room, he would kick, scream, hit the walls, tear things up and destroy the things he liked.

Much of this he imitated from his mother that he had seen when she was upset with someone in which she was involved with. She yelled, screamed, cussed, hit the wall and tore up things people had given her for spite. The behavior is copied; but the anger isn't. They simply can't control it; and so they go into rages. Her daddy did this when she was a child. This I believe is an inherited factor; and needs to be treated with meds that they have now available instead of just marking them "bad."

Finally, over last summer, my other grandson got into trouble with the police and both boys were accused. This made Michael mad and he reacted violently and did some things that got them both into trouble. So, now both boys have been put into residential center for their behavior as they feel that my daughter can't take care of them properly. One is doing ok; but Michael is not. He can't handle change well and is frightened. This comes out in rebellion or so it seems to those taking care of him.

I feel so flustrated because they still haven't given him back his ritulin or other meds that could help control his anger. They just treat him as a disrespectful and disobedient child in rebellion. They do not take into account the fact that he is ADHD. They don't care or at least seem to. You can't beat these children into submission; they only become violent. They need help which they are not getting. I pray for my grandson all the time that God will help them to give him the meds that he needs to be able to live well as you have hopefully gotten for your child.

Please pray for Michael that he can get help before he hurts himself or others or they hurt him trying to control him with brute force, too.
